    Default Reelfoot 9-19-14

Well I have been working like crazy and I have not had much time fishing this year. I was able to go Friday with Pop and the weather was great and really thought we could catch a few crappie. Well we did not catch a single crappie all day. We did catch a few drum and manage a stripe, now there are a couple of guides who have posted pics on facebook of some crappie they caught this week. There were 5 boats around me trolling and none of them were having any luck either. I have a video of one of the carp jumping in the boat and I do let one bad word fly in the video. The carp have just about took over Reelfoot Lake and they were jumping everywhere. I hope TWRA and the State have a plan to get rid of the carp.

I showed my wife and son the video and just how nasty those Asian carp are and what you guys have to deal with. It's really a shame they have probably hurt the fishing over there more than most people even realize. Just wanted you to know, I was barred from being watching further productions due to the awful content by the wife. LOL For those of you who don't know, I am kidding. The world could use a lot more folks like crappie4me2. Thanks for sharing.

I was considering giving up my private lake membership and fish Reelfoot next year. seeing this may have changed my mind.

I have to say that was the craziest day I've ever had going across the lake. If only the crappie had bit like the carp were jumping, we could've "loaded" the boat. LOL! It was good to get on the water either way. I hate that one landed in your boat. I did have one jump clear over my head from one side of the boat to the other. A few hit the side of the boat so hard, I had to check for dents when I got it back on the trailer.

A buddy and I went Thursday and fished all day. We hit the upper basin and the lower end with minnows and didn't catch a thing. Found a lot of stumps. Reelfoot is the only lake I fish where you can be in 12 foot of water and hit a stump. Also the only place I know that a snapped off trees 10 foot tall are called stumps. Lol.

I have never thought of it like that but it is so true. The bite on Reelfoot has really been tough this year.
