Default Kentucky Lake Big Sandy Fishing Report for week of March 5, 2014

Hifolks. Welcome to Richard Williams Outdoors.

Thewater levels here on Kentucky Lake came way up to 356.83 earlier this week. Butby the end of the weekend are supposed to come back down to 355.7. Plus thewater has a heavy stain to it. I’m not sure what all of the melting ice andsnow is going to do to the water levels. We will just have to wait and see. Thesurface temperatures are in the low 40’s and should start coming up next week.
TVA has been dumping over 120 thousand cubic feet of waterper second out of the dams. And we all know that when they dump that much, itputs a lot of current in the river systems.
I really did not think I would have any fishing informationto talk about this week because of all the ice and snow on the roads and ramps. However, I did get one crappie report this week from a friend in Clarksvillethat said he was fishing the drops and ledges in the Big Sandy and caught alimit of 30 keepers. He had to catch 45 fish to get the 30 keepers. He wasfishing on the sides of drops and ledges in 13 feet of water with his baitsjust about on the bottom. The best baits for him that day was a Southern Problue and white and a southern pro orange and chartreuse. Both jigs were tippedwith a small minnow. I did not actually see the fish but he did send me apicture of them.
For this week, this is the only fishing information that Ihave. I have not talked to anyone else that has even tried to brave all thesleet, snow, and ice that we have on the roads. And I don’t blame them for notgoing anywhere like this. I haven’t either.
Itis supposed to warm up this weekend and hopefully will melt all of this sleet, snow, and ice that we have everywhere. Then, we can all get back to doing whatwe do best. And that’s getting out on the water and catching fish.
Our old fishing license are now expired. And hopefully, weall have our new license. If you plan to go fishing and get caught with outyour new license, trust me folks. The cost will be a lot higher than the 28dollars it cost for the new license.

That’sall the time we have for this week.
    See-yaon the water folks.
    Thanksfor listening.
Have a crappie day!:D [email protected]
