    Default Chick-Harrison Bay, 6-21

Well, set the alarm for 4:30, and slept right through it. Luckily, my 20 year old was going and he got me up before 5.

We got to the lake, and it was a nice morning. Not too hot, a bit on the cloudy side, so it stayed comfortable for several hours. That's always nice this time of year.

After some questions and answers here, we decided to stay in the Harrison bay area to fish, and worked the channels.

We had a good day with 19 keepers, and a catfish. We tossed back about 10 of those little striped rock bass? and many small crappies.

I have one fish, that i am just not sure about.. I am putting a pick of it below. It has some kind of deformity in the tail... I never noticed it until I had it home or I would have tossed it back into the lake. I chose not to eat it, because I am not sure if it is that way to to getting attacked by a larger fish and getting away,, or swimming up into the power plant pipes for a while, or some other illness. So, I had to trash it.

Here is the catch; Largest two were almost 14 inches.

Not bad for a short day. We were out of the water by 2.

Notice anything odd with that one??

    A closer look below:

It looks like it got slammed in the car door as a kid. LOL

I don't eat catfish, so sometimes we will keep one or two for my wife's mom. This one was about 4 pounds, so we kept it for her, filleted it and my wife cooked it and took it to her this morning.

I am going to have to get some lights and try out the night crappies. Sun came out and it got real hot real fast. My son got fried,, but you know how their generation is... sitting on a computer instead of going out and doing things with their friends.

Probably not anything wrong with the crooked tailed Crappie. I used to catch many a Smallmouth Bass out of Watts Bar Reservoir, that had that same malady .... and ate them.

    Here's a previous thread on a similar situation : http://www.crappie.com/crappie/south...scoliosis.html

    Thanks,
At least I am not the only one that ever caught a fish that looked like that... It really caught me off guard when I noticed it.

Hoping the weather is good early Monday for another day on the lake.
