That's getting into good fishing time. You had better call now and reserve a place or your gonna be sleeping in the truck.
The first week of April will be my first trip to reelfoot. I was wondering if anybody could point me in the right direction to where I might catch some fish (crappie and bluegill). I'm not looking for any honey holes just some good fishin. And a nice affordable place to stay while I am there would be appreciated. Thanks

The Lower Basin is always good. The fish may be moved up shallow depending on how warm it gets. What kind of boat do you have? I hit a stump here and there with a 5 horse but the lake is back up to normal pool or so. If you are coming with a lot of people I suggest checking out the VRBO website. If just 2 people its better to stay at one of the resorts and get a fishing package if you don't bring a boat.

Thanks. I have a 17 ft tracker. Sort of flat bottom with 60 HP motor. Not that I intend on runnin full throttle but like the idea of being on my own boat with live well and rod holders.
right now the lake is high enough that you won't have any problems. The link will tell you the current lake levels. Pick the white dot where reelfoot lake would be. When the lake gets in the 11's that when you hit things, don't get me wrong you still hit some now.

Been many times over the years. Be prepared for a sunburn, wind, snow, wind, wind. And every other condition you can think of. I remember a few years back, I was catching fish here at home in 70 deg. weather (actually did get sunburned) Next week drove down, first week of April, cold front came through, and we all had our coveralls on. Its a great place though, just the scenery is enough to keep you coming back. Good luck.
My friends and I go to reelfoot every year. we take a 18ft sea ark with a 90 hp ob and hit stumps no matter if the water is high , but you are fishing reelfoot you can expext that. Just like if your not loosing lures or rigs your not fishing for crappie. I love the place we go every year some years we catch lots of crappie and some years we catch alot of blue gills but you can bet you will have a good time with good people and hopefully catch a boat load. Good idea to take an extra prop and go slow just in case.
