    Default Tracker Grizzly Questions

Long story very short, my 25 hp mid-eighties Merc died on me on Saturday. Instead of paying for the repairs I am I'm going to sell my Lowe Big John with the dead Merc and buy a new boat in the next few months. I intend to get one in the 16 foot range with a minimum of 25 hp.

I have been looking at boats for a while, paying most attention to Sea Ark, War Eagle, F&F, and Tracker Grizzly. I was over at Bass Pro last night picking up some new broadheads to get ready for bow season and I walked past the boat section and they have some great prices on some 2011 1648 Tracker Grizzly boats. So that made me more curious about them.

I was wondering if any of you have a Tracker Grizzly boats. If so, will you please share your opinion of the quality of construction, your satisfaction of the layout of the boat, stability, and overall satisfaction as an owner?

    Thanks for the advice.

Whats been going on Crow? Don't know much bout the grizzlies, but I'm guessing that you're planning to multitask (fish/ducks)? You might take a look at the Excel boats too. I really like mine and the longitudinal ribs make for a tough boat.

Good luck. New boat shoppin is fun.

Yeah it is fun thinking about all the possibilities. Kind of like I just got rid of an old naggy girlfriend and now I get to go hit on some new stuff at the bar.

What model do you have again? I like yours, at least the pic you showed me. And yes I plan to multitask with this, so I'd like to have a shooting/casting deck up front and a large enough space to load a deer on the occasion I am lucky enough to kill one. Maybe Harold D would make me a deal on his Excel.

You fishing this weekend? May be good with this cooler weather.

Harold D aint gonna part with the Xpress haha, besides......thats half my boat too. Sucks your boat took a dump on you. I dont think you'd be disappointed with the Grizzly if you got one. Good luck in your search and give me a shout if I can help out in any way.

Black Crow...we've got two 1648's we use at our duck club. I'll vouch for em as being a tuff boat. Our guys don't baby them, got 36hp pro drives on them and they fly through mud and muck hunting our backwater blinds. I know we put them through more in two months of duck hunting than most boats will do in a year.

I've got the excel crappie 860. Probably not exactly what you're looking for, but I know excel has a name for making a tough duck boat too. Pretty sure HD has an express, but kinda doubt he'd part with it.

Fishing this wkend yes. Catching not so much yet. Winds been tough til now.

I have a grizzly 1754 with a mec. 50 HP. with that said if i was to buy one tomorrow it would be the same boat only wider. As far as the HP I think a 25 HP would do the job,I have never had the nerve to open mine out, I back off at 25 MPH, That Alum gets real light at 25 MPH and their are no wings. I guess it's how importaint speed is. But I'm sure you will like the boat.

Thanks for the feed back everyone. Sounds like Grizzly makes a decent boat from your replies. It very well may be the direction I go.

Ha, yeah I'd say 50 hp would get you down the lake just fine. Maybe I could go the same route and tell my girlfriend it's a fish and ski. Speed isn't a huge issue to me. My old one topped out at 22 mph and that was plenty for me.

Oh, I forgot HD's got an Xpress. That's fine if you don't wan to part with it. Probably ain't worth buying anyway the way you rednecks treat your stuff. I bet you can't go one foot into that boat without stepping on an old crunchy minnow. I'd even up my offer if he's throw in his pole holders and let me wrangle one of his fat rabbits. No kidding though, I may get you to ride with me up to that dealer where you got your boat and take a look at their Lowe Roughnecks before I make a final decision. Maybe there and see what they have at Abernathy's.

Yeah it definitly sucked when my boat died. I'll have to tell you about it next time I'm down there. Crazy story.

We can deffinately take a trip up to where I picked mine up. HD would prolly part ways with his pole holders but I wouldnt reccommend it. As far as wrangling one of his rabbits, you're out of luck. dad is officially out of the livestock/poultry business. You'll just have to wrestle him I guess.
