found these 2 weeks ago walkin thru my woods. wish i could find some more this year, last year was a bust... do you hunt on public land? not tryin to get your spot, just an idea of places to go.

Going up to Tellico and see if I can find some of those ground steaks. Wearing my snake boots just in case. Who knows might find a ramp or two. Save some for sailfish to go with his fresh crappie he got friday. Later Tenncrappie.

Now should be the time to go. A buddy of mine cut the top off a two liter bottle and filled it 2/3 full on saturday. He hit the jackpot.

What kind of mushrooms and what do they look like? I've always heard about people hunt'n shrooms but have never seen any results or pics.
I go up in the Cherokee National forest. Have a friend who works for the park service that gives me a call when she spots them. She called last thursday. From the looks of those you have I may be too late. Mushrooming in the mid-west is a big deal. I go visit kinfolks in Iowa ever few years and hunt up there. Kids even lay out of school. If you ever eat one soaked in egg, floured up the fryed you will be hooked.
Morel Mushrooms. There's alot of info on the web about them. I've never found any 'cuz i've never looked, but have some friends that know where to find them. Here is a pic of one my bud found saturday. I'd rather chase turkeys and papermouths this time of year...

ive heard they grow around tulip poplar trees is this true?ive never hunted them or ate them but would like to try both
Yep they like Ash trees as well! Mighty fine eating having some tonight with fried turkey!
Are those the same type of mushrooms you get bad trips from? just wondering i would be affraid i would freak out.
