...which is plenty enough drop for you to run your boat up on a sand bar that wasn't there during summer pool. Speaking from experience :D.

If you don't know the lake, get a map and run the channels. Percy Priest is a rocky lake in places and you can seriously mess your boat up if you run too shallow.

It's at winter pool right now...finally.

    Winter pool is 483.

If you're looking for a good trip, there are definitely better crappie lakes between Nashville and Indiana. JPP is full of 9 1/2 inchers and not many over 12". I fish it a couple of days per week because it's close, but it's definitely NOT a great crappie lake.

Check out Kentucky Lake and/or Reelfoot...much better destinations.

That's gospel. You'll catch a blue million short fish, but way fewer of legal size. Old Hickory is also a great crappie lake that is in Nashville if you're trying to stay in this area. You won't catch the numbers that you will on JPP, but you'll end the day with a heavier sack. If you do decide to fish JPP, I'd narrow your efforts to areas south of the Hobson Pike bridge. Just my opinion.

old hickory is a decent place to go.for every 6 9.5 in fish u will catch 1 13 or 14 incher which is fine with me.also barren river lake in scottsville ky is ok. dale hollow in celina tn or cordell hull in carthage tn is good

Listen to BlackCrow he knows the lake good too. If you fish the upper end above Hobson Pike beware of the rock and sand bars and also trees sticking up that you wouldnt see in summer time. I have set out there before and just watched people hit things that they didnt know where there. I myself fished the upper end but I was running 2 gps's and had every rough area marked like stumps that might barely stick out of the water depending on the wake from a boat or the wind it wouldnt be seen. I ran it in early low light but got lucky several times but if you get out and run the channel in the winter time just cruising it and looking for obstructions that can cost you a day of fishing it is time well spent. You can go from 10ft to 1ft of water in matter of 6 inch of travel. If you want a guide look up Brian Carper on the internet and get him.He can run it and show you the area and put you on the fish.
