    Default Another Rant

Well not so much of a rant. Somehow I kept my cool and did not let it bother me. I just thought I would share some more idiot sightings.

Despite my threats to quit fishing:D I snuck out before dawn yesterday and hit the lake. Motor quit after about 20 seconds. That usualy enough to make me mad. But I just dropped the trolling motor and kept going. Turns out I forgot to hook my gas up

I left at 10am with my 15 fish. Boat traffic and wind made it tough to fish comfortably. Im losing interest........

I got to the ramp, all parking long gone. Nobody at the ramp. I put the boat on the trailer and got every strapped and put away. Was standing there going over the checklist to make sure I did not miss anything and some guy wheels into the parking lot fast with his boat. Pulls up in front of me yapping on the cell phone, loudly. He yells at me "hey are you pulling out?" I said yes. " Do you mind maybe moving and letting me in?" i said oh no sir sorry bout that. Now, the ramp is plenty big enough for two boats. I was at the side of it. I have seen 3 boats at the same time on it before when people get the fever. But I just hopped in the truck and moved out of his way. I got out of the truck to get my bag I keep all my stuff i dont want to get wet and watched him. He stood at the back of his truck yapping on the cell phone for a minute. Then he proceeded to unstrap his boat go over his boat moving this and that stopping every seconds to yap loudly at whoever he was talking to. I just sit and watched. It took him 7 minutes from the time I started keeping track untill he actualy backed the boat in. It takes me all of two minutes to completely strap my stuff down. Normaly I would pull up obviously, but nobody was around.

You tell me..... Why do people act like this? He had to get his stuff ready. And he wanted the ramp to do all that. It did not bother me. Just found it interesting.

Knuckleheads is the only way I can describe em'. When I was stationed at Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio I used to spend my lunchhour at the local lake. I would park on the top (on the side) of the boat ramp. I would get entertained each time by "Knuckleheads" trying to launch their boats. These Knuckleheads are everywhere. North, South, East and the West. This is exactly why I don't go fishin' on weekends. The Knuckleheads are out in full force! Skiers....now that's an entirely different breed of Knuckleheads...so are the Pleasure-Boaters....man, I could go on and on....Gheez

I think idiots as a species get better every year. Of course, some have to do things that get them killed. But the strong survive. Many still can't get their boat launched or they can't get it to run right so they block the ramp. But alas, more and more manage somehow to mash the throttle halfway down and putt about the lake looking for a new place to fish. Or talk on the phone. Or post pictures on the internet of them fishing while they fish.

I wasn't meant to understand it, so I just shake my head and keep my jig in the water as best I can.

Hey buddy.. Maybe you should have left him a note on his windshield telling him he was acting like a dodo head, [like I'm special move out of my way] I'm more important that you.
I couldn't let that snapper head cause me to stop fishing, I'd help him get his boat ready to put in, and leave the plug out by accident...hehe.

We sometimes have some fisherman that park their trailer hanging out
into the pullout lane. Even though the parking areas are huge and they have plenty of room to park away from the pullout lane. Then you have some who pull out and stop to tie down while others are waiting to launch.

Well, they are everywhere. I mean that truthfully. Idiots will be idiots with or without their cell phones. Cell phones are here to stay and I am as guilty as the next when I use it for convenience. The absolute truth is that with cell phones, all they have done to society is to make us anxious. What is it that can't wait a few minutes, and hour, or even a day? What is so important that these things control our lives. I remember doing my sales job before cell phones. I got it done and nothing happened when I didn't get my call till the end of the day when I called my answering machine to get messages. Convenience should not make us overly anxious. Chill out. Some of my best days fishing was when I left my cell phone at home.

You are a good person for not going off on the guy. He would not have understood anyway. Most of these people eliminate themselves with their idiocy. It's nature's way of keeping the gene pool pure.

It was not the phone at all. It was the fact he wanted me off the ramp so he could block it. And there was more than enough room for him to launch with me there. I was finished packing up. I did not mind moving. But he came off the road right to the ramp. I was thinking "how he gonna just pull right in and launch?" I was right. He had work to do. But in his mind I was blocking the ramp.....Dont get me wrong. I wanted to say something. Just for the sake of saying something. But something has changed. Im not looking at the weather for the next good day to fish. When I am there I am not having much fun. I gotta get back to just going fishing. Stop getting these so called reports, stop letting people tell me where they are catching fish, stop letting people tell me they are fishing one area and the next day tell me they were somewhere different that day. Its taking the fun out of it. What does this ahve to do with the original topic? :D
