BK, is that old restaurant still open? I ate catfish there as a kid!! Talkin' Early 70's! We used to fish the tailrace and I caught my biggest to date cat there as a teen. 54lb Bluecat! ahh the memories.. I grew up in Summerville.
Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.

Santee has some of the biggest Crappie in the state , in fact the whole south east ! I think the only lakes even close is Grenada in Miss, and Clarks hill on the SC/Ga border . I have fished many tournaments on Santee & weighed in over 19 pounds twice & it has been several times I am sure IF it was tournament day & we wanted to go all out we could have weighed in 25 pounds with 10 fish !!2.5 pound crappie on Santee is common & many are caught every year down there over 3 pounds & a few over 4 some years !! I have not fished Santee much since I quit fishing tournaments simpy because it is almost 2 hours away & I have Lake Murray, greenwood , Wateree all very close

the santee lake were at record water level lows a month or so ago , not sure what it is like down there now, maybe a local will chime in

    Good Luck !

If I had one I'd bring it. The rivers are way too high right now for the walleye run so maybe people are headin for warmer climates and better fishing. I know I'm fired up for both. :D
