It is amazing how far a dog can go and return to the exact spot it was turned out. My granddad use to take off his shirt and leave it there and more times than not, he would return the next day and the dog would be laying close to the shirt.

Done the same as FishnLine. The man that owned the dogs layed a jacket from his truck on the ground and we picked the dogs up the next day. Them musta been some cold nosed dogs cause they were gone most all day long before we left 'em.

we never did lay nothing on the ground for the dogs to scent. it was strange how they knew to come back to the spot we let em out and lay around till we picked em up.
