    Default Thanksgiving Report

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. It's been a while since I've posted a report so I figured I'd let everyone know I'm still around. We've been busy chasing kids around and getting ready for #4. Me and my wife are expecting another little boy in about a month. My hunting and fishing buddies are growing up fast and it's amazing how fast time is flying by. With a busy family schedule my fishing time is much more sporadic than it used to be, but I still get a chance to go on occasion. I've spent most of the Fall chasing deer and I've been fortunate enough to put a few in the freezer so my focus is slowing shifting back towards the surf in lieu of the turf.

My Dad and I normally fish the day before Thanksgiving, but this year we had some schedule conflicts so we postponed until Black Friday. It had been several months since either of us had been on Lake Murray so I wasn't expecting too much, but I was excited to get the chance to share the boat with my Dad. We used to fish together often, but we don't get opportunities to go as often now. I was surprised that the boat ramp traffic was relatively light when we arrived a little before 7 AM. We got on the water fairly quick and started our search. It didn't take long to a find a few and we focused our efforts on brush. We saw a few open water fish, but fish on brush seemed to be more active for us. We ended the day at 11 AM with 40 in the box and joked that there was a Black Friday sale "on-the-line". Water temp was 59 degrees and fish were caught in 12-18 FOW. Black Sheep jigs and minnows were the key for us. No particular color seemed better than another. All in all it was a great trip with plenty of laughs and memories made.

Great Report, 40 in the box is a great day. I miss fishing Murray with my Poppa. Tried fishing Murray last year but just wasn’t the same without him. 18 years and still miss him. Enjoy time with your Dad.
