    Default Greenwood is full

You guys had me so scared of the low water at Wylie that I drove down to Lake Greenwood yesterday morning to fish it for the first time in at least 3 years. Only fished a few hours before the swirling winds took over. Only 1 keeper sized crappie, a couple of perch, 3 nice catfish, and a few bass. Not too good. Didn’t keep any. I did enjoy blue water and a lake that was so full that you could barely get under the Hwy 72 bridge. Also, was happy to use up most of the boat gas. Oh well, back to the deer woods.Name: IMG_9479.jpg

I was at Greenwood Monday dragging for catfish. Hoping for a big Flathead but it wasn't to be. I did get 6 Channel Cats, two around 4-4 1/2 pounds, the rest around 2 pounds, all released. Trying to learn this dragging thing & having limited success. I think I've yet to quite learn where they are. Would also like to learn to catch those white perch, & getting shad in a cast net, both great bait. Tried fresh Bream cut bait and chicken. Every hookup on chicken. Go figure.
Looks like you had a pretty good day...my usual goal is to just not get SKUNKED! But yeah, the wind was a challenge to say the least. Near impossible to follow a contour line or creek channel.

Next time you are headed to Greenwood and want info on how to catch the perch send me a message. We are coming on the time of year where the perch really turn on. In about two weeks as the water continues to cool, you will be able to catch your perch and start dragging for big channel cats in the same area. They will both be on the stunned schools of threadfin shad. Right now the perch are in the coves more. Soon it will be the main lake.
