    Default Santee

We are headed down next week to Taw Caw Creek, we have never fished this area of the lake before and was wanting some tips or suggestions, also any suggestions on the best place to buy bait around there? We plan to crappie fish and also a little catfishing if the crappie aren't cooperating.

I’m uncertain of bait stores in that area, but you are in and near good crappie and catfish spots. Crappie are still active in both shallow and deep water with mid depths of (12 feet) or better being best. Catfish are biting well drifting Santee rigs in the flats of the main lake using cut shad or herring.

If you ride all the way to the mouth of TawCaw make a left and go into the next creek immediately on the left (maybe Black's Bottoms?!?). It has been YEARS since I was there but back then it looked to be an awesome place to fish. We were down there shooting fish with our bows. We also went to the right out of TawCaw. Another good looking place in that direction especially for some catfishing. Good luck to ya and let us know how you guys do.
