    Default Greenwood Today

I realized that I was caught up with work so I decided at bed time last night to head to greenwood this morning and see what the crappie on the brush were doing. Every pile I checked had a bunch of fish but the only hits I was getting was those little pecks from bream. Didn’t have a crappie eat till 9:45 on my 6th pile fished. After that fish I couldn’t get another bite. I was about to go check one last pile and I saw one of many mayflies float by the boat. On a whim I scooped it up and tipped my Bobby Garland with it. Bam! 3 really nice crappie in a row before the mayfly got knocked off. Then no more bites once it was gone.

I know all the fish can get really locked in on the mayflies during hatches. Makes me want to get with Keith Tate on here and have him make me some 1/32nd oz mayfly larvae jigs.

The water was still in the low 80’s and all the fish felt really hot. Hopefully the bite really goes off once temps get down into the mid 70’s. Historically it has for me.

Not much of a report. But I thought the mayfly was interesting.

That is cool. Bobby Garland has Mayfly jigs now FYI. Might work for you.

Very cool that you figured out a bite.

Those BG mayflies look great in the water. Work has prevented me from using them on the fish

I wasn’t aware of those Bobby Garland mayfly baits. Thank you for mentioning those. I just ordered some to try.
