    Default Cedar Creek Catfishing

Had a great night,Caught three Blues over 20lbs.Had channels hitting in the first two stops, eating everything in sight.Moved in a little deeper water, and the action was fast while the water was running.Just got in at 2:30Am.Alot of trash in the water,so be careful if you are out at night.Alot of the floating stumps near the deep water have moved, and trash is all over, water level is still high.

Well last night turned out to be a great one.Took out a couple from Lancaster,They landed 1 36lber,and 1 22lber and 1 18 lber.CPR them and still took home 13lbs of small blues I filleted on the boat for them. All caught on garlic catfish belllies.Fresh shad about 3 inches caught from the bridge didnt get as many bites. As always we caught shad at the 1st bridge, yes u can loose a net,but they are almost always there.Wateree is a trashy Lake with the water staying at the levels Duke Power is trying to keep it

Sounds like they was a hitting the garlic bellies. Do you leave skin on or off.

No need for shad if u r getting monsters like that! Way to go.

Those are some nice size fish.

I want to hear more about the garlic catfish bellies. I've thought about trimming the bellies of my catfish to use for bait. How do you add the garlic? just a little sprinkle of garlic powder or what?
    John 21:3
Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They said to him, "We are going with you also." They went out and immediately got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing.

And we act like this Nightstalking thing is new.

For some excitment, read the next verse. A special guest arrived, they filled their coolers and had a fish fry on the beach...in the morning. My kind of people.- Bowfin

Yeah I would like to hear more too. I have tried catfish for bait without a lot of success, I know they eat their own kind. Flats love bullheads I'm told. Do you use bullheads to catch the flatties you mentioned around the bridge down at Wateree?? Or is it just the blues you target with catfish bellies/garlic sauce.

I have never had good luck with small live channels r mudcats, butI did find a small cat in a big blue not too long ago, mussels were found in another, wonder how take for them to go thru the fish.F/H at the bridge r hard to get,but due to catching alot of them in castnets I know they r there and I am sure around the corner were all the stumps r up to the mouth of the creek. The belly meat is for blues correct. They will eat anything.Luck and location and time is -all that is needed to hook up,Landing them is fun if you are ready.Nothing like a fish too big for your net!

How big was the cat in the blues stomach and how big was the blue that ate it? WOW!! I think that only the smaller cats eat mussels; mainly the ones under 10 pounds.

we used to catch blues at santee whose gut would be full of mussels, shell and all. big catfish. they would be so many mussels in their gut if you shook em you could hear the mussels rattle. if you held the gut up it would look like a string of pearls. i guess they digested the mussel and passed the shell.

How big F/H at Wateree. Have you caught any on rod and reel...like with live bait? Personally never seen one but makes sense they should be in the lake. What did you catch F/H at Wateree with and what is your biggest. Wyliecat is a good F/H man and he had no luck at Wateree either for F/H, we have never caught one. We have caught yellow bullheads/small white cats/channels at the bridge in our nets. They will make mess of a cast net and stick you good but no flatheads. It is sometimes easy to mistake a bullhead for a small F/H but if you get a fish over 3 or four pounds it is unmistakable b/c bullheads rarely get that big.
