    Default Slow Learner

I知 a slow learner or maybe just hardheaded, probably both. I知 basically a deep brush fisherman. Always hearing about fish being shallow when I知 fishing deep. Gabowman is always gittin em shallow and making me jealous. I致e started to look more shallow especially when it痴 close to my brush. Yesterday I had success catching some on a point and and off the side of a long hump that痴 way off shore. They were in 8-10 feet and were some of the most aggressive fish I found. I heard a guide say this week there is fish in 10-14 foot of water year round. Im slowly becoming a believer. My point is don稚 get stuck in a rut fishing the same areas, brush or technique. When fishing Solo I try to do something different for one hour, sometimes it feels like a waste of time, but seldom is it a total waste. I usually find a new brush pile or eliminate water. Yesterday I found some shallow schools. Success in small steps creates confidence, maybe next time I値l try a couple hours.

I am guilty of fishing how I want to catch them instead of how they want to be caught
The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along

Guilty as well, sometimes I get bored and make it hard on myself.

Would you believe Ive been catching them in water as shallow as 7' lately?!? Granted, not as many as you live-scopers but still doing alright. I learned at an early beginning to longlining to NEVER do things just because that's the way it is supposed to be done. ALWAYS think "outside the box".

Butch the shallow fish were way more aggressive. My thoughts are they are not getting hammered like the brush fish. I stayed off them and was casting 50+ feet. There was so much boat traffic it was like the ocean and my boat slap was awful. Trolling motor came out of the water a few times. I actually left them biting. Had to try and beat the bad traffic coming home, I failed at that!!!

I bet the boat traffic was rough on your lake. Having 3 lakes in a row sure makes it more tolerable trying to pick spots where pleasure boaters are NOT at. That's also why I like fishing backs of creeks as long as SOME fish remain there. IF I was using livescope I'd probably prefer battling the boat waves. Ha!

Doug, that picture I sent you the other week. That fish was in 8FOW. I caught fish that day up to 1.5FOW. Not spawning, but just up there doing fish things I guess.
