    Default Short Day on Wylie

Got on the water bout 7:00 thinking the front is moving out and I see blue sky. Might be a tough day. The wind is blowing but isn’t white capping. Didn’t see much on the first few piles but got one nice fish. Finally got on a better looking pile with plenty of fish but had trouble getting bit. Picked up another nice one in a open water school. Thinking I need to move on to better piles, went to pull up the TM and the lift cable snapped!! That ain’t good!! You wouldn’t think a steel cable would break but it did. Day is finished at 8:00. Now gotta figure out how to get the TM unlocked and stowed. The wind has the water pretty rough so I got to calm water, got on my belly and finally was able to push the lock with my finger and got it stowed!! Wheeeew! That went better than I thought. Got the boat loaded and figured out how to repair but don’t have a 5/64 Allen Key and it looks dangerous without a helping hand. Decided to just call it a day. Ran by The Great Outdoors and bought a heavier replacement cable on the way home. Was an easy fix. Guess that something I should inspect occasionally. Lesson learned. At least I caught a couple to salvage the day. Name: IMG_2791.jpg

Always something as the saying goes. Glad you caught a couple nice ones and could easily fix cable.

Hate you had trouble on the water. Not meant to fish today, I guess. I'm glad you got it fixed and can get back out and fish. I run into small stuff from time to time. I'm glad my ulterra hasn't completely went kaput. It has its day, and it's scary to think I got to be leaning out over the water. Nice pictures, though.

Gotta wonder how many cycles I had on that cable??? Almost 3 years old. At least 15-30 times per trip so I can’t complain about a failure. Talked to a guy at the G. Outdoors and he had 3 failures and has decided to just replace with a rope. Gotta believe the cable is better. I now know why the Pros get new stuff every year.
