Thread: Clark Hill 05/05/23

Even though we're now into May it hasnt felt much like it yet. And yesterday felt more like early April to me. With 2 hoodies on I was fine at 50* temps and in a couple hours if warmed up into the 60's later on into the morning. For the most part it stayed overcast with very slight breezes. Also, the water temps are remaining in the upper 60's (67* early yesterday morning) as well but all that will probably change next week with every day getting into the lower 80's.

Anyway, launched about 6:30 and made a short run before dropping my longlines. It started slow and all the fish were small. Caught around a dozen and then decided to look elsewhere. On my second stop and with lines out the first fish I caught was a 14"er. Now that's more like it! Well, I never left that second spot although I never reached the spots I intended to fish. The graph just showed too much not to give this spot a try. So those other places will just have to be another fishing trip. Ha!

I fished from about 6:45AM until 12 Noon boating 61 fish keeping a Carolina limit of 20. Since I was in SC I wouldnt dare keep more than that although I threw back fish after fish that were plenty big enough to fillet when I was culling fish. I was just after those bigger fish. Greedy I guess. LOL



A great fishing day. Not too many boats out there other than a couple crappie fishermen and maybe 4 bass boats. Nice weather, not much trash on the water, a good stain, and biting fish. Couldnt ask for much more. It aint over yet guys. Get out there and fill your freezers before the water gets too hot. Theyre still biting after you find them.
