Default Stripers and Crappies and Cats. Oh My!

I just posted a few striper pics on the Striper page. We caught em last week on Clarks Hill and the bite was hot. The Crappies have heated up too, I caught 23 last Saturday from the dock. Not to be left out, the cats are biting too as we had some herring left from one days striper trip and threw them out from the dock. 3 nice blues were added to the freezer from that test. Now we know what to do with leftover bait from Jody's!

Get out there, the striper/hybrid bite is incredible. On Thursday we caught 70!

Now thats an incredible catch Chris. Any of the big stripers show up? How heavy were those blues? Congrats.

The biggest striper so far is about 10 lbs. The big ones usually show up about mid may. The cats were eating size, 2-3 lbs each.

I took your advice and gave the stripers a try today just trolling. I caught one that was over 30 inches. I don't know what it weighed but the length to weight chart for stripers would put it at 12 to 13 lbs. At first I thought I might be hung up because my reel was stripping line and the drag was set pretty tight. Then I thought I felt it. Then I could not budge it and thought I might be hung up again but I eventually got it coming to the boat. Only caught a few other small ones but that one was worth the trip, at least to me.

I forgot where you said you were on the lake, but I am in the middle section. We get the stripers twice a year when they come through in the spring and then again in the fall.

We'll see ya on the water. If you have VHF, we'll be on channel 68. Look for this boat......

No one came by to say hi today. I guess everyone was too busy. BTW, we caught 19 this morning. 15 hybrids, 2 green heads, 1 big crappie, and 1 big yellow perch. All on the bottom on live herring.
