ouch!
My boat has been in the shop now for almost 4 weeks. The Tilt & Trim had started to leak down and I was having to hit the up trim about every 15 seconds.
I just received a call today that they were going to have to replace the T&T unit with a new one. It started to leak down and at low speeds it would go all the way to the bottom.. They said that the more they worked on it the worse it got and they would have to replace it with a new one at a cost of just over $800...UGH... but there wouldn't be any labor.. This motor has only 260 hours in 6 years of use.. I took better care of it than I do myself.
These guys have always been great wrench pullers in the past. A total family operation and great friends. I'm supprised that they weren't able to repair it..
The price per fish just went up again.

I hate to hear that gcromer. Motor trouble of any kind is the last thing any of us want.
CALL YAMAHA'S CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER, THEY WILL PROBABLY GIVE YOU SOME HELP.
FORMER DEALER! http://MONKSCRAPPIE.COM
Speaking of service Monk you sure are missed at the marina, the only way you can get service down there now is if you want to buy one of them over priced ponttons.

Thanks for the suggestion. I called and they said that they would check into it and get back with me. I told them that I would be thankful for any help they could give. With the low hours, service of the oil, filter and lower unit every 50 hours. They were supprised that I took such good care of the boat, service wise and that it had just came out of the 5 year warranty...
I'll let you know how it comes out..

Your suggestion payed off.
Yamaha called back this morning and said that they would pay for the new tilt and trim unit and that I would just pay for the labor. I thought that was a fair deal. The 5 year warranty had run out about 4 months ago. I think that says something about Yamaha.. It took only one day to get it taken care of with Yamaha.
I think taking care of the motor and boat paid off. Everything looks like the day it left the factory, you can eat off the motor and only a few scratchs on the outside of the boat from close in fishing in the swamp. I think the dealer must had conveyed that information of how well I look after the boat to them...
I'm still a Yamaha man..

That's good gcromer. That sounds like a fair deal to me. I have a Yamaha too and have been pleased with it.Originally Posted by gcromer
That is great.
Wish I could have gotten Honda motors to have done that on my bike.
Switch went out. They were nice and replaced the starter switch. And was going to pitch in the other three. But then it was $250 to get the other three put on.
Now everyone knows on a bike only one key. but Honda would to cover them all as one was all that went bad.
So Never will I buy a Honda again. But you can bet I will look at Yamaha again.
