    Default Wylie Beatdown

Wylie has beat me bad. I’m bruised and bleeding. Fished hard and managed to catch 7, let’s not talk about size. I’m not superstitious but the new hat ain’t going back anytime soon. Hahaha!! Water temp 44 and stained. Never really located many and when I did couldn’t get them to bite. Half a day is all I could stand. Better Days are ahead. Name: IMG_2205.jpg

    I am not
superstitious either, but I got a used hat at a local flea market. When worn I seem to catch fish
Still a few better than a skunk.

I may take several hats next time out lol

Tough day Doug, but that's usually what I find when the water dips into the 40's. I have sorta hung up my hat until late Feb now. Waiting for spring to get on the brain. In the meantime I'll see what the big cats on Clark Hill is doing. Yesterday all I did was troll with 6 lines out with bait that was froze from last year. Only 2 pull downs and no hookups. Trolled for a few hours and called it a day. I never found any bait. Usually I anchor but wanted to try trolling for 'em.

Better luck with your crappies next time TB.

That’s my experience also. I knew below 45 is tuff. 10 degree drop from last week made it tuff. I’m hoping the warm up and another stable week will perk the bite up a bit.

My goal this morning was to catch 20. Felt like that would be a good day. After a couple hours my goal changed to just not get skunked. Hahahah!

It seem to be tough all over with the quick drop in water temps. I went from catching them pretty good on Murray with water temp 54 degrees to really struggling this past Tuesday. I changed areas of the lake because I had heard the brush bite was tough. Went up the rivers and found 39 degree water temps!!! The fish wouldn’t even acknowledge my bait. I caught 1 fish and it was the only one I turned! Yesterday, I just went perch jerking and had a ball. Better crappie days are ahead.

Around here when the water turns super cold there are alot of people out there jigging spoons for perch. Not a big fan on eating them (personal preference) but they are alot of fun to catch.

Doug, maybe you needed Brett in the boat instead of his hat. Yeah, it was tough on us the other day too. Monticello wasn't any better. Poor pickings here lately but it will get better. Thanks for the report!
