    Default Wylie Saturday night 6/25/22

Met up with Ferlin, Jordan and TurkeyfootNC for a night on the water. Waited for the crowd to clear out somewhat so we could launch and head to Torrance Branch. Set up in 28 foot of water over some waiting fish who didn't get the memo. Caught one keeper right off the bat and then it hit us. The slowest spell I think I have ever had fishing at night. They would not bite for nothing. One here and one there all night. Had 11 keepers for Ferlin to take home with a big cat about 5 lbs. We had some small fish biting and bumping the minnows but not being caught. Called it quits at 12:45 and headed in. I had 5 crappies, Jordan 2 crappies and 1 catfish with Ferlin pulling up the rear. Ferlin was feeding minnows to the small fish. LOL Turkeyfoot had 4 for the cooler to ride home with Ferlin. It was a humid night and a bit relaxing after the boat traffic settled down. Great to see everyone and it has been way to long since last time being together. May have to breakdown and head to High Rock for a night stalk with Turkeyfoot leading the trip. Thanks guys I had a good night even though the fish were biting!

A slow night crappie fishing is still better than a night of work

Slow nite is better than no note on the water IMHO.

It was good to see you guys and it was nice on the water. Unfortunately the fish must have been on vacation! We'll get them next time!

Glad y'all got together and was able to put a few in the cooler for a ride home.

My Company is taking some of our deep sea fishing Monday.
I used to go often out of Southport and Little River, but never out of Florida so I'm looking forward to getting out there again. It's only been something like 25 years or so since my last deepsea trip.
I sure hope we find some wanting a free ride back with us.
Set 2 crab traps last weekend and pulled them Tuesday. Someone pulled them for me. I could tell they were not in the same places I set them in and they were closer to each other too. I set them about 100 yards apart. Found them about 30 yards apart. I hope they get sick off the crabs they stole. Soaked for 3 days so there should have been 7 to 10 in each trap. I only got 5 crabs total.
Not even enough to make a good meal, but they did taste good for my first time cooking them myself.

Dawgg, thanks for your report. We've all had not-so-good trips but it's still worthy of posting. I know getting together with friends make it much better though. Glad a few bit and hopefully on your next trip to the lake you guys will fill coolers.

Thanks BigDawgg thanked you for this post
