Thread: Lake Murray Birthday Trip and More

It’s been a while since I’ve posted a report, but I have been reading the boards a little here and there and I have been fishing. Trips have been short trips for the most part, but I’ve managed to catch a pretty good mess most every time out. I bass fished a good bit in early May and mixed in a few crappie, but now I’m back solely focused on crappie.

My most recent trip was on the morning of my birthday Wednesday. I decided to go in to work late and hit the lake for a couple hours. It paid off with a nice limit of fish and a few bonus perch for the pan. Fish were caught using minnows on brush in 20-22 FOW. They are stacked on brush but are a little finicky to get to bite. I was off the water by 8 am after culling a few times. It sure felt good to get out there without the weekend crowds and it was a great start to the day.



Previous trips I’ve been fishing docks and I’ve had good success using burdawg’s Black Sheep Jig company hand ties. I’ve been using junebug/chart and a blue/white that have both been getting thumped on the regular! Y’all check him out if you are looking for any hand ties. He made a whole custom order for me and they all look great!

Some good trips Derek glad you are able to get out. The kids are growing up fast. If I ever heal from my fall I want to start using live scope to find some summer time crappie.
