Sounds like a good trip
To curb my curiosity about the crappie being shallow this time of year, I took my yak out to the DNR lake down the street from the house. I figured with the nice weather everybody and their mama would be out on the big waters, the DNR lake would be safer and not too muddy. I paddled up a tributary creek and found a spawning bed next to a beaver dam. Caught a few there until they stopped biting. That spot was no more than 6 ft deep. I paddled up further through a culvert and tried out Chena Bait. Caught some bream on it and a crappie.
