Fished from 8:00 to 4:30 doing the usual: dunking minnows around shall brush and banks. Caught 12 crappie , all but one keepers, a small bass and a green sunfish. Like earlier in the week, I picked up 2- 3 fish at most of my holes in Torrance and Crowders Creeks. I have not had a hot bite this year were I caught lots of fish from one location, which usually occurs by now, but obviously from the posts from Big Dawg , Charles Biggers and others show that the fish are there.
There is always tomorrow.
Some scattered thoughts:
1) Lots more people were on the lake , especially late, I suppose because it being a holiday with beautiful weather. Lots of people were fishing in Torrance and Crowders, mostly for crappie. It was such a contrast to the earlier days of this week.
2) Unlike my last 4 outings to Wylie, there was no one at Nivens Creek ramp that wanted my fish, so all fish were released in good shape back into the lake.
3) Waverunners, they can be great fun on the water, but many times the drivers are extremely young and inexperienced. Yesterday one passed within 100 feet in front of me as I was cruising down the lake. Almost T-boned them. I am afraid that we will soon have someone killed or injured on a regular basis on our lakes. I am not sure of what can be done, if anything, but it is a concern.
4) Ramp Etiquette - I am going to sound old ( I am) and to seemed to be just pining for the good ole days, but it seems to me, sometimes out of ignorance and sometimes out of selfishness, that ramp etiquette has steadily declined. Just some of the things i have seen: people breaking into the line with their trailers, not pulling up far enough to tie down their boats and thus delaying others from accessing the ramps, parking their trailer on the ramp because they are just going for a "short ride to test their boat", kayaks using the ramps as a holding area until they can load up even though there is a sand beach 20 feet from the ramp that can be used for that purpose, people swimming around the ramps, etc. I try to get on the water as early as I can so I can miss the crowds, but it seems different to me.
