    Default Lake Wylie crappie fest

Man "O" Man what a day! I am so proud of the kids that braved the cold wind and all the grown kids too! Not many folks showed up but the ones that did caught fish and had a great meal waiting on them when they arrived at the picnic area. I don't have the specifics and details of the catches, but I was amazed at the kid's event. The young C.C fishermen stood tall as their weights were read out. That's what it is about. Rods and reels plus gift cards for heavy five fish and big fish. Plus, another gift for participation. Hecht I even managed to get somethings. Ofishlbizzness does a great job of providing the prize box and managing the get togethers. Hat's off and applauds for him. There is a lot that goes into this type of gathering. But it is worth it to see some young future fishermen standing tall with smiles that will tell the story of fishing. I know pictures will be posted and I know it was hard for anyone to take their hands out of the pockets to do it. Did I say cold wind? I want to tell you guys and gals that if you don't attend one of these events you are missing out on the hard core meaning of C.C with kids involved. I just want to thank all of you who came out and gave up your time to make this get together another great time spent with friends on the water and having a great meal afterwards to share the spirit in fellowship. Thanks to the pit crew who made a great meal and the folks who donated to the food list. Special thanks to my sister Lillie who made two Banana puddings "the cooked type" and some dang good chili for the hot dogs and burgers. Thanks to Roger Parker who provided the cooking crew and equipment you are the best! A big thank you to the folks who came out and gave the crappie a hard time and made the event worthwhile. Thank you all, I had a good time getting ribbed about being the Big Dawgg. Hope to see you all again soon on maybe a road trip to High Rock.

Dawgg you bout said it all. But again Thanks to those that came out in cold very windy conditions. Yall are the reason we keep trying to get folks out and enjoy the great outdoors. The cooking crew outdone their self again this year. Guess we gonna have to hire em on full time. But they wont take pay. Its a way to give back to the youngsters they keep telling me. But a big Thanks to you guys. Miss Lily out done herself. Two , I said 2 great big nanner puddins. Made the old homestyle way. And the chili was next best item of the day. That gal can cook. Thanks Lily. The turn out was a bit shy with four boats not showing. But under those conditions it wasnt a bad idea to stay home warm and dry. Everyone asked why we picked such a bad day. The answer is simple. Three months ago when we decided a date it was warm and no wind at all. But this gang wouldnt know how to fish in good weather. I think last four times it was either hurricane wind or tropical monsoons. Thats what makes it great. To see these young people willing to get out in that and go for the gold. Had nine crews set out to fight it out. Had one left early with motor troubles and one got that call from home. You know.... I thought you was gonna fix this today call. Had four kids wanting to take it all. They did very well considering. So on to the good stuff.

1st place in 10-12 brackett was Michael Bowman. His big fish was 1.6 lb. His 5 fish total was 4.5 lb.
2nd place 10-12 bracket was Wyatt (score keeper didnt put last name ) His big fish was 1.1 lb. His 5 total was 3.4 lb.

In under 9 had Wade Baker His big fish was 1.2 and 5 total was 3.15 lb.

Over 12 bracket was Jacob ( again no last name )His big fish was 1.0 lb and 2 fish total was1.10 lb.

Didnt have a bumper crop of kids but did have some real time fishermen out there. Congratulations to these guys.

Adult division was close also. The Cripple Creek team of Jeff and Marty Green took top spot for big fish and heavy 2. Big fish went to Marty with 1.6 lb.
Heavy 2 fish went ot Jeff with 2.4 lbs.
Next 3 spots for big fish tied at 1.0. Couple folks didnt want to weigh so we closed out the scales and put on the feedbag.
Tough day but some tough fishermen and ladies out there. Thanks to all for coming out. And BiggDawwg has spoken !! ROAD TRIP...High Rock very soon. So grease ya bearings ,check your tires and lights and lets go fishin ! Thanks again to all .

Thank you John, Ron, miss Lilly, Miss Nancy and of course the cooks that fed the hungry fishermen and women! Special thank you to Uncle Remus for letting me tag along again. Sorry for running out so fast yesterday. But my grandkids called while we were eating and asked me to take them fishing. Hopefully I can get them to join the crazy crappie. Com lake wylie crew in the future. MY grandkids each caught 4 brim and my grandson caught this turtle on a worm.
