Those old timers knew. They depended on that knowledge to eat
Many old timers believe in the effects of wind direction on fishing. Saturday morning, three grown men caught only 5 fish in 3 hours. Steady breeze from the East. After a midday break, I returned to fish alone. Water temps hadn’t changed much and neither had the wind speed. The only noticeable difference was that the wind was blowing up from the South. I caught 14. The total fish count for the day was 2 bass, one catfish, one undersized crappie, and 15 keepers. Same technique both trips. Maybe there is something to the old adages.

The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
Lots of times the wind direction matters. I've known it to blow shad in the back of a cove and it be a feeding frenzy there.

Yes I hate a eastern wind as it is true 'winds from the east fish bite the least'.

Wind from the West...the fish bite the best.

I just go fishing when I can go.

I had wind out of the east this morning and it was fast and furious.

My son is a better fisherman than I am and he ignores wind direction most of the time. However, there is some merit to following these old adages for us ‘average’ fishermen. Some of you guys can find ‘em and catch ‘em under any circumstances, but most of us are still trying to figure it out.

I was pulling with the wind and couldn’t keep the rods in the water. Pulled same line going into the wind and only got 5-6. Direction makes a difference sometimes.
