Default Wylie - 3/21/2022 - The Spawn has begun.

Fished Wylie today from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Caught ten crappie and 1 channel catfish. All fish were caught on minnows under a float in cover along the banks fishing 2.5 feet down in 5 fow. Fished Torrence and Crowders creeks. Caught all fish in Torrence. Torrence was stained but Crowders looked like chocolate milk.

So has the spawn begun? in my opinion, yes, but it is just beginning with most of the fish still deep in the creeks. But for minnow dunkers like me , this is when it gets fun.

Good going on the crappie. Hope tomorrow I can get out there. It is only going to get better and better each day. Thanks for the report.

these warm days they will move up shallow, but the cold fronts will move them back out a day or two, they were shallow today on moss, in 4 to 6 ft of water, caught them on jigs today. pictures are on my facebook page. when the temps get steady around 66 to 68 they will spawn. if no bad cold fronts come in, they will be on the banks good in 2 weeks.

My dad and daughter went on a trip yesterday. While I was at work they loaded the boat with over 30 crappie longlining in just one spot for just a few hours. 12-20 FOW was the ticket. They only had 4 rods out!!!

I cleaned a hen today that had already layed out (Very few eggs still inside her to be absorbed back into the body). It was a 12" fish without a belly. I shoulda took a pic but I didnt. Everything else I cleaned was still toting their eggs.
