Default Lake Wylie 3/2/2022 Double Trouble

This morning took wife for a follow up with DR she had hip replacement two weeks ago. On the way home wife said it is too nice you need to go fishing. I honored my wife and got to the ramp at 1:00. Started looking around and it was the same as yesterday. Only fish to be found was on structure 30 to 40 feet deep. Yesterday everybody on lower lake said they got skunked or a few fish. I was able to catch 14 kept 6 yesterday. I looked everywhere yesterday docks, ledges, brush, points hard to find fish or bait. Only found fish in deep water.

Today hoping it changed no luck. Only found crappie in brush 30 to 40 feet and they were not hungry. Brush in normal 20 feet were barren. Went to a creek mouth with the wind was blowing into so I decided to do some sniping in open water. Game was on found two schools in 40 feet and suspended around 25 to 30 feet. My last hour was a treat seemed like every cast was lifting them in boat. Toss back 11 kept 9 crappie and 1 spotted bass. Someone told me spotted bass taste ok so I thought give it a try.

Last 5 minutes got the double trouble. Had one 10-foot pole with two jigs and my eyes got big lifting two crappie on one pole.

My long poles I rig this way with one jig or two jigs. I use a 1/16th ounce worm sinker weight with pegs on both ends then one or two jigs below.

Enough for wife and for two dinners. She loved the last baked fish I made. Pour olive oil and butter over fish and sprinkle with Lemon Pepper spice. Bake at 300. make some flavor rice for the bed and put baked filets on top of rice. Add some slice tomatoes and enjoy.

Good Showing!! I enjoy the open water fishing. It will get better once they suspended a little more shallow. I like 10-14 feet.

You been out last two days and what did you see. Upper lake or Norman? Today was really my second time sniping it was fun. Need to do it more. I saw no fish higher than 20 feet . Usually you will see fish up high

Good job on the crappie and pictures. Hope to get back out there soon and try my luck. It should be anytime day, and they will be shallower and ready to gobble anything in front of them. Good to see your report as always. I bet you are glad your wife said go!

I’m fishing the upper end and catching some in schools. It’s good when you can find them. Checked Studman and Beaverdam and can’t find them. Guessing they are still out on the river channel.
