    Default Late Lake Greenwood Report

Finally got out for the first time this year last Saturday. I never like going on Saturdays cause it's usually so busy, especially with the great weather forecast for the day. Got to the ramp at 6:30 and the trailers were lined up out onto the road. Looked out in front of the ramp and there were a dozen boats idling. It was then I realized there must be a tournament. So I waited patiently to get the boat in the water. She didn't want to turn over but it was cold and it'd been awhile since she was on the lake. Then the battery died .....ARGHHHH! Put the boat back on the trailer and head into Laurens and wait for the store to open. Threw a new battery in and headed back to the lake and she cranked right up.
Water was nicely stained but only 48 degrees. Pulled jigs at .7-.9 and got one here and one there in 16-21 FOW. Stayed out till about noon when the wind started getting up. Put 7 nice ones in the box. Lost the biggest at the boat. Thought is was a striper the way it was fighting so I horsed it a bit too much trying to keep it out of the other rigs, just when I could see that she was a BIG crappie the hook pulled out. I had a long, serious conversation with myself for a while after that.
Got back to the ramp and saw a dad and his 5 year old son pulling their boat out. Asked if they had any luck and he said nope. I asked them if they'd like to have mine and the boy's eyes lit up. I had him get his bucket and climb aboard. Opened the live well and he reached in and pulled out the #1.5 big mama. I wish I had a pic of the look on his face! I told him he could honestly say that he caught that fish. He caught it right out of the water in the live well.

Glad you went even on a Saturday. Thanks for the great Greenwood report and I wish you did have a picture of that young fellow lifting out that big crappie.
