Default Hard To Beat The Elements!

The rain stopped @ 9AM today. It was calling for 11 mph winds but it seemed calm when it was already saying like 7 mph then. So....I decided what-the-heck and hitched the truck to the boat and away I go.

After a little doing I made it to the lake @ 11AM and man! Was it blowing!! Whitecaps at the ramp. Whew!! Well, I'd rode for close to an hour getting there so I wasnt backing up now. Figured I'd find a place to fish where it was out of the wind.

You guys ever tried dodging the wind? If you had luck at it then tell me what I'm missing. Going into the wind the trolling motor was on 5 setting (out of 10) to keep me around .8 mph and with the wind the trolling motor did best @ 1.5 speed with two drift socks out.

Anyway, I let it whoop me today. I fished here and there trying to find better waters to avoid the elements. I'd pick up a fish here and there. Fished for 4 hours today boating 19 fish. Yea, yea! Wasnt the worst you could do but I was hoping for a bit better. Humbling, but I know it'll get better and better. I guess the good thing is most of the fish I caught were keepers. Biggest fish today was just shy of 15". Here's a couple pics of today's trip...

If you can get out in the sun it sure does help. Shooting docks I am in the shade quite often. Sometimes I have to troll out into the sun to warm up some. It does help quite a bit

That sounds like the days Remus, and I have fishing on the pontoons. I'm glad we both have the 112 lb thrust trolling motors. As long as we can keep the toon turned into the wind it is not too bad. Get sideways hold on to your hat. The wind is hard to beat most of the time. Glad you did catch some for the effort you put in. Thanks for the pictures and report.

Impressed with the Diehard attitude. If you wait for the perfect day you won’t fish much. That was good practice for March Winds. I like a good chop but White Caps are challenging.
