    Default Powder Paint

I normally fish jigs unpainted. Cheap Chinese Eagle Claw hooks are driving me back to painting. Gotta have something to fill the eye gap. Bet I lost 10 fish yesterday that took my jig. Started painting today. Didn’t like the colors I had so I mixed some and got a couple I like better. Mixed some Pearl White with a Bright Blue and toned it down some. Hope the fish like it. My Chartreuse was greener than I like so I toned it down. Glued up some also so now I have to test.
PS, ordered Mustad Hooks, hope they are better.

I'm leaning more and more to unpainted jigheads myself. I use sickle hooks and like those J hooks you use when it hangs brush theyre gone. Ive lost so many heads as of lately trying to hug the bottom with them so all I'm tying on has been unpainted as of lately. I dont know if unpainted vrs painted jigheads matter all that much to the fish but the painted heads have caught the fishermen. I'm saving mine until I fishing much higher in the water column and aint loosing so many.

I’m convinced I catch more on unpainted. I usually only cast about 50 at a time so they stay shiny. I found some clear powder paint that I been playing around with.

I use mustad hooks and still have issues with batches showing up not closed all the way. I use braid and a nightmare with loop knot. I started using a palomar knot to prevent losing jig.

Food for thought you could just use clear powder paint if wanting the unpainted look.

And if you don’t want the shiny head from dipping in clear powder paint just dip the eye of it, run wire through hole to open and then bake.

I just ordered 100 unpainted 1/16th jigheads so I should be good for this year with all the painted 1/32's and 1/16's I already have. Fishing is expensive!!Ha!
