    Default Slow Day on Wateree

Picked up a few stripers here and there, but mostly white bass. The stripers we did catch were really nice, but put back all fish that we did catch today. It was a very, very slow day for me compared the the past few weeks. It was still a good day on the water. I would think that the people with live bait, down line fishing would have had better luck than us trolling with artificial bait, but this is just a guess. Thus will probably be my last trip until after the holidays. Good luck to you guys this weekend.

If you caught 'em all every day then it wouldnt be called fishing. Besides, I'd take the quality fish over the quantity fish any day. Congrats on what you caught.

Thank you for sharing your trip. Do you happen to know what the water temperature was?

Are you catching the white bass on A rigs while trollng??

We are going back down friday. Plan to have herring & large shinners for bait. Will try live bait first, then may troll A rigs for a while. Last trip, we used the boat motor to troll(minimum speed was about 2.2) but this time I want to try using the trolling motor so that we can slow down.

    Thanks

I use double 3.5" swim jigs on leadcore lines. I let out 3 colors on the leadcore. I also run 2 A-rigs on down riggers. I set the down riggers at 25' when over the main channel and usually 8-10' above the bottom when I'm out of the channel. Just depends on what part of the lake I'm fishing. I generally troll around 2.5 on the speed but have been playing around at 2.0 mph and I can't tell a difference in the bite. If they're eating they don't care how fast I'm going evidently lol. This is my first season fishing wateree like this so I haven't fished any water less than 25' deep. I guess I'll figure out how to fish the shallower water if the fish move up the lake over the next few months. Hope this helps. Good luck this weekend.

And yes sir I was catching the white bass on both the A-rigs with swim jigs on them and on the leadcore lines with the double swim jigs on them.

I was just just about to go to wateree today too, decided to head a bit further and catch Murray instead. They always seem to bit where I'm not!
