Is there a new boat landing close to Colonel Creek?

just got back from two weeks of camping at Wateree and talked to the guy in charge of the new landing. Molly Creek is it's name, has two ramps and will be the only ramp you will be able to get on the lake with when Duke Power starts the dam work next year. You cross over June Creek (going down lake), go to the second "RockBridge" sign (in right hand curve, go slow) and turn left, go about a mile, look for "Island Dr" on right side of road. you will go thru 2 round abouts and cross over a little causeway, park with picnic tables, 2 fishing piers on left, follow drive around to right will take you to ramps and parking lot. OPENING DATE is DEC. 3rd.

I was told next year Oct. 2022, when they draw down for the winter, the lake will be a lot lower than normal winter level and stay down 16-24 months (depending on how fast the dam work goes). Again Molly creek will be the only ramp on Lake Wateree (from what Duke Power told the guy I spoke with) to launch from during this time I was told. some good news is that during this draw down time, all the other landings are going to be redone and lengthened and Colonel creek landing is also going to get a dock added. The guy I spoke with said they already have the contract for Colonel creek and are going to start it when they leave Molly creek. They have a bid in for Clearwater also.
Wendy, at state park also told me, they are also going to do some work on their ramps.
now we all know everything can get fouled up worse than Ofishlbizzness getting his rods crossed up in the boat and run past the dates they are saying, but with fingers crossed maybe everything will go smooth.

Always gotta be extra careful on a lake drawn down that low but with it down that much it sure makes it easier finding the fish.

Glad they are waiting until next Fall / Winter. We have a week long camping trip for next Spring at the State Park & plan on fishing the entire time.
Bad news is missing out on fishing for up to 2 years. No way I am going to Wateree if it only has one Ramp. 500 people trying to put in at one time & 475 can't back a trailer or load a boat.
Although it may be fun to go watch the mayhem.

only counted 34 truck/trailer parking spots and highly agree with you on the nuts that couldn't back a trailer even if they held their foot on the brake and the world spun backwards. I'm thinking cold weather only and go during week only, forget the weekends and nice weather.

I wonder if Cedar creek landing will be accessible? It doesn't have a dock or much of a ramp so maybe it could be used if you have a Jon boat.
