Yesterday Ron "Lake Wylie Guy" and I went to do some crappie fishing. Had a fun day talking and catching fish. Ron like to slip float with minnow and I wanted to see how crappie react to minnow on live scope. He fished his minnows and I used jigs. Soon as we got setup on pile I let Ron have the front row seat to get a good look on the screen. It was very interesting how the crappie went to minnow then pulled of just like jigs. You would think live minnows would be a no brainer. It was interesting. Getting end of our time on a pile I told Ron look this is very interesting. See how there are some big crappie at 14 feet just right on the screen of pile. So with his long pole he dropped the minnow perfectly and within 15 seconds he pulled up a 13.5 inch crappie. I think Ron said he took home 14 crappie he needed groceries for a family fish fry. I took home none. We only kept at least 10 inch so the size is getting better. See picture below.
I fished today and release 20 did not need groceries. Saw lots of bait and fish in the creeks. Saw Charles today and he reported catfish slow.

Thank you CK and Ron! I was thinking about float fishing yesterday morning. I was thinking it would be nice to relax and let a minnow drift around and catch a few crappie. Back in the days far ago we did just that. Great picture of Ron with a nice slab! Thanks for the report. You should bring Brett and go to the clash with your Live Scope's and help win back the SC plaque. I'm sure you would see more crappie's on High Rock than here on Wylie.
