Default Upgrading to a 12 inch screen. Lowrance or Humminbird ?????

I have a Simrad go 7 on my console now. I want to move that to the front of the boat and put a 12 inch unit on the console. I am familiar with the lowrance units and what they offer, but I hear alot of good talk about the new humminbirds. Never owned or used one. I want real good side scan and DI. What do you guys prefer. It will be used predominantly for pulling jigs fall through spring.

I like lowrance, I have a HDS 12 and a HDS 7, I have fished with humminbirds ,too. not knocking them.I just like my lowrance better, it will show you the crappie under the docks and on brush with side scan, keeps me from fishing places that dont have crappie.

Hope you pick what suits you! I have a HDS 7 and now I have a Helix 12 both give me side and down images. I like them both. Helix is clearer on down and side image and it ain't cheap to have this on the boat. I guess the HDS 12 is just a little cheaper but ain't nothing to laugh at. Both have a lot of quality factors to check out before you buy one. Hope you lots of luck picking out what you need.

I have always had Lowrance but I’m building a new boat soon and plan to put a Lowrance and a Hummingbird on the console. The down and side imaging for hummingbird is superior to Lowrance. I will keep Lowrance for some of the mapping cards I need in Florida and Louisiana (they only work with Lowrance and Simirad).
