    Default New tactic

We put in yesterday at Jake's landing and never started the outboard. We trolled the no wake area and a couple of adjacent quiet bays
We got 7 perch and 3 bluegill. The bluegill came on a Baby N plug. None were big enough to have swallowed the plug. They all managed to get all 3 of the treble hooka in there though
We caught Striper doing this earlier but none today.

It's funny you should post this Ray. I discovered a long time ago that fishing around the boat ramps were very much overlooked places... places where many tournament fish and fish from lots of everyday anglers are released.
I agree wholeheartedly that you often times don't need to go far to find fish right under your nose.

SK has a video on this very thing. And when you fish from a kayak you don't get very far from the ramp and I can tell you fishing close is just as good as anyplace on the lake.

You guys have it wrong..... the only way to catch the biggins is to have a $75,000 boat and run 100 mph for 20 miles to get to the secluded secret spot..... No?New tactic

    For Which I'M thankful
That leaves all this unfinished calm water for us. Mind you Jeff's boat can push 60 MPH but we seldom pass 40-45 and usually a mile is a long run for us.
This is just a new way to put fish in the boat. We normally jig for perch and stripers in much deeper water.

I went trolling a few weeks ago and carried two kids, ages 9 and 10. I pulled out from the dock and using only the trolling motor, set the rods out. I did this about 250 yards from where I normally start trolling after a short motor assisted jaunt across the bay. But that day I wanted to use that 250 yards to explain to the boys the technique we were going to be using when we got to the "honey troll area". My plans were interrupted by one fish "on" after another, barely fifty yards from the dock. Lesson learned !
