That’s a Goodern! And Newer ain’t always Better! Rigging boats (to me) can be just about as rewarding a hobby as the fishing part.

Ok, boat is loaded and heading to the lake in a bit. First test run.
Going to try out the trolling motor too with a few jigs in tow.
    Full batteries and night lights.
Let's see how Momma likes fishing with me...lol

Yeah we going to stay out if all is working as it should.
    Wish us luck.

Sitting here fishing in the boat.
    The motor started fine.
Eased out from the dock and went t o pick up some speed and it will only go about 7.5 mph.
    What would cause this?
    Could it be the gas?
    Trolling motor works great.
Going to give it an hour or so to fish some. No takers yet.

Fuel tank vent open? Fuel flow restrictions? Carbs clean? Plugs clean, gapped properly? Primer bulb getting and staying firm? Does that engine have points? Distributor? Power pack\brain box?

Not sure on any of these, but will be finding out tomorrow.
Fuel vent is open. I checked it before leaving the house.

Neil, out of the blue, check sparkplug wire connection. One may not have been put back on correctly. I had one vibrate lose when under power and scared the crap out of me not knowing what could be wrong. My brother in law was with me and it use to be his boat and he said it happen to him once. He said check the plug connection. So, I pulled the cowling and pushed all of them in hard and it fired right up and never bothered me again. I put small zip ties around the plug connections. Not a problem since. Hope you get her going!
Thanks FisherFore thanked you for this post
