CrappieKid, I'm not in, Nor close to the Carolina's, however that is how I fish. Pole in hand...and it's one for me also...
I just wondering how many one pole crappie fisherman as a preference are there? I am not saying other ways are better or lesser I have done just about them all. There is something about for me the contact with the rod handle in hand with line pinched between fingers and the contact with the crappie on the other end on the hook that excites me and never gets old. Like to know who fishes this way in Lake Wylie or other lakes in Carolina. This is not about which is better but who else loves to fish this way.

Yup that's me. Love the challenge, the thump the competitive sportiness and feel when I actively fish vs. them hooking themselves and me reeling them in.

vertical jig 90% of time 10% casting twister tail or float and jig. tried trolling and spider rigging ,not a fun way to catch crappie for me. my son uses live scope but the only thing I like about it is you can see the brush piles at a distance and pick out the larger crappie.

I love to single pole fishing with a jig/ jig-float and dock shooting. Longlining and spider rigging has its time as well. Livescope will be the end to many good crappie lakes.

98% of the time, 1 rod, the other 2% of the time, maybe a second rod may be out with a float on it.

Is how I fish here in SE Ohio. Never know when the thump may hit which I love to feel but also what might be on the end of the line.

Have rigged, pulled jigs and cranks but they don't get it for me. I like one or two poles in hand and feeling that thump!
