It's been a while since I've posted a report. As my kids get older, I seem to find less and less time on the water, but I am still fortunate to be able to fish more than a lot of folks. This year of fishing can be summarized by one word for me...TOUGH!! The weather has not been in my favor and it seems that most all of my fishing trips have been during adverse conditions. I've battled the wind, the rain, the current, and plenty of mud all year. It has taken a lot of persistence to be successful and there have been days where I couldn't make things come together. But, for the most part, my trips have resulted in some decent catches and a few trips have exceeded expectations. A wise man once told me, "The best time to go fishing is when you have the chance to go." Meaning, don't worry about the conditions, GO FISH!! I have doubted those words a few trips this year...
I've spent the bulk of the year tightling and trolling and I've fished several lakes including Clark's Hill, Santee, Greenwood, and, of course, Lake Murray. We've had a couple weekend trips so far this year on Santee and Murray and each presented some difficult conditions, but we prevailed!! I hope yall enjoy a "pictorial" from this year's trips. I hope to have many more, but I'm sure fishing will be put on the back burner in May/June because me and my wife are expecting baby #3!!! This time its a boy! I'm afraid he's gonna have to fight his older sisters for a seat in Dad's boat though....

That was a good collective report with some very nice pics of some good trips and some pretty awesome fish that were caught.
My favorite, however, beyond any doubt is the first one of your beautiful little girl... and that big ole grin that really says it all.
Thanks for sharing your collective report with the rest of us.

Derek, looks like you have had the chance for quite a few trips and you have produced alot of nice fish. Besides that, looks like alot of fun was had. (If I had to pic a favorite though, it would be that first picture of your little girl holding up those two fish. She's just precious. Keep those kids busy catching fish (and whatever else they wanna do with their Dad) and congrats on #3, the boy that's coming! Sounds like a very well-rounded family You guys have made. Congrats to both you and the Mrs.

Time for a pontoon to take the whole family. They even have a railing to keep the young ones from falling over board
Thanks for the report, atvleast we know Crappie still live in the lakes
Good looking catches, and fine reporting Derek. I'm with ya on the adverse weather conditions, but I always fight the elements and go as well. For me, the fishing has been really good the last couple of weeks with some outstanding catches of numbers and size fish taking place. Congrats on #3, and I'm certain you and the bride will be happy the baby will have an appendage this time around. lol
