    Default Crappie Fishing

I am trying to become a better Crappie Fishermen and I am curious to better understand them. What is the easiest way to find Crappie on the lake? What are some good method for someone who is still learning how to locate and catch more Crappie? If you are leaving the boat ramp right now, March 21st 2020, to set out to catch some Crappie, where would you start and what would you be looking for?

    Thanks and Good Fishing!!

not sure what lake you fish so where to go would be hard to determine !!! IMO the best method would be longlining , reason you can cover more water with this method faster !!!!

here is one of the best READS you will ever read on longlining !!! pay attention to page 6 you might want to print a copy for your boat and tackle box !!!
    hope this helps !!!!

Depends on lake, time of year, weather pattern, etc. seeing on your profile lake Wylie helps me. This past Friday and Saturday on the heels of multiple warm days produced great fishing longlining. The thing about crappie is how they change so much. Longlining one day, dock shooting the next, casting to the bank. Or all the above in one day! Cloudy days versus sunny days. North wind versus south. Literally the most fun fish to chase because of the changes! Check out the longlining thread since it is so popular on lake Wylie. Never look past dock shooting either. Massive success can be found there year round. Night fishing too. You could spend a whole lifetime crappie fishing and still have questions. Any specific questions feel free to PM me anytime!!!

My advice would be buy a map of the lake or lakes your going to fish , it will tell you the names of boat ramps , hazards, creeks and points of interest. Take the time to ride the lake and learn it inside out especially the ones you might fish quite often. Learn to long line and don't get discouraged with tangles cause it's going to happen but this method can be very productive.
