You are right about why stop making lures when they work so well. Hedden lures like the Sonic and Pumpkin seed and Bayou Boogie were our favorite go to plugs in the ponds and larger lakes. Tiny Torpedo is still tops for top water. The worm you are talking about brought many big bass to us. Looked like a Salamander bumped slowly on the bottom. Man those were the days of good fishing.
