If you want brush that only you fish you’ll have to continually put out new brush. You’ll be the only one that knows where it is. Then if you fish it you will give away the location and others will start to fish it, that’s a given. Eventually it will be a community brush pile. If you don’t like it, don’t put any in or find a new hobby. I knew when I dropped it in my solo fishing days were numbered. I have a few piles I will not fish if anyone is around just to keep the location secret.

The bottom line is there are individuals that do the work, study the fishes patterns, place habitat, and grow into truly skilled fishermen that, with a little luck will reap the rewards for their efforts. While there are others, whom with today’s technology, scan the waters with there eyes, binoculars, side imaging, or by whatever means they can employ to poach fish they would NEVER be able to catch on their own. Advanced technology in sonar will do nothing but make the poor, lazy fishermen more capable, which in turn will rob the workers for there efforts. Reading this thread, you can easily determine which side each responder belongs.

I personally get off of work and go to each local lake and start putting out brush as soon as the leaves come on the trees to prepare for the summer and fall brushpile bite. Sometimes I dont get home till 2am. I place them from the back of creeks all the way out to the river run. I have hundreds among hundreds I put it in. With that being said I always try to find atleast new one that someone else has put out when I fish and I always say I sure do appreciate your hard work. I just hope they have appreciated mine as well when it is found. As long as a man don't follow me when I am putting one in I don't care. If they have the resources to find it then good for them because if I find theirs I am gonna fish it too.

On a side note I have found that if you don't put them in obvious places and use a good topo map on your electronics people are less likely to find them in my experience. Odds are if the spot looks good to you it did to another man as well and there is always one close by.

    Just my 2 cents.

I was told once before that the best tool a crappie fisherman can have aboard his boat is a good pair of binoculars. Now take a guess why!

Fishing with a license is not poaching.

Manners flew out the window many years ago. Being retired i have plenty of time, and will move off some else's pile. I will not move off a pile that i set out tho. If someone is there ahead of me, i won't say anything but will move on. Who gets there first counts. When you sink brush in a public lake it becomes everyone's really.

I knew that thread was going to be interesting. For those that have never put the work in the build and place brush you have no idea for the reason that (we) that place piles get hot under the collar about this subject. I don't mind others fishing my brush but it does rub me wrong about lazy fisherman that think they should just fish and catch without doing any work to help keep cover in the lake for our sport of crappie fishing. I have had brush pile moved when the lake gets low and people can see them and that Really pisses me off. To each his own but you fisherman that don't put in any work on brush you need to do some soul searching and get off your lazy donkey and help our fishery because sooner or later our fishery will die if not took care of.
