Looks like a fun trip. Good memory from 30 years ago !
Spent the last few days at Santee. Had my buddy Charlie with me first part of week. Gerald Cromer and his buddy Don met us Tuesday morning hoping to take Charlie into Broadwater but we decided the water was too low to get in
So we decided to rely on my memory from 30 years ago and go into Sparkleberry. Proud to say I found our way in and we went up to top end. Gerald and Don went into Mill Creek and found a hot crappie bite. Both boats got around 17 nice fish. On the way in Charlie got a 3# LM on a plastic worm and we managed a few bream on white Beetle Spins.
I recognized the Island in Sparkleberry Lake that we camped many times in the 80s when there were White Bass spawning runs each March. White Perch pretty much wiped them out but it was fun back then.
Gerald spend last part of trip with me. The crappie had disappeared the next day but Gerald show me how to catch Warmouth by bumping jigs on bottom and we got several nice ones.
I rented a trailer at Popular Creek and that was home base.
Charlie and I got a few Crappie in the Stumphole/Jacks Creek area on Monday but the wind ran us into a cove for Bream fishing. Thanks Tim for the tips. Minnows were some of the liveliest ones I've seen and they were the key to our success in Sparkleberry.
