Default CK Lake Wylie 3/28/2019 Long Line learning expierence.

Got on the lake at 7:30 and headed for Nivens. Saw some fish where I like to fish but decided to check the whole creek. Went back past the ramp and saw very little bait and fish. Turned around and headed for the mouth. What I saw I could catch some but wanted to go on to Torrence. Setup there and saw some fish so lines went out. I use 8 poles out of the back and normal setup is 1/8th on inside two poles and 1/16th on rest. 90 minutes later had two fish and marking fish some at 15 but most at 20 to 25. Doug called me and told me he had to add weight so I added 1/8th splitshot to the inside and added 1/16th split shot to the other 4 poles and lest outside poles 1/16th. Started to catch some fish. I was in the mood to check out creeks so I decided to go to Beaver dam.

Problem with those 1/4 ounce jigs that are that deep you will catch Perch and perch I did. Throw back perch but kept 5 super dooper Jumbo deluxe perch. Was also catching crappie in between.
I had one double crappie that astounded me. I caught one on the 1/4 ounce and one on a 1/16th in the same place. Talk about different water columns. I went to the creek Doug was out and caught some more. Doug and I then took of to the cove that has my honey hole brush pile. I caught 10 off of it in about 30 min and kept 2. Crappie has to be 11 inches before I keep it. Doug was tight line and caught some more.

We decided to call it a day. When I got to Ebenezer I talked to a nice bank fisherman. I was not going to keep fish when I started the day but now I know the Lord wanted me to keep fish to give away. I had 5 jumbo Perch and 16 good Crappie. he told me thanks he has 4 kids that love to eat fish. That blessed me good to hear that.

This was a learning experience for me. Doug and I both had to work hard for it was hard locating fish today for some reason. When Doug called and said he had added some weight I did not hesitate. I have been known to take to long to make adjustments.
Final Catch kept 5 Big Perch threw back about 10. 16 Good crappie threw back about 14. Did keep one 10 inch because he swallow the jig and was bleeding.

My friend I meet at the ramp.

Man you did good out there today! Glad you went and caught some of Brett's blue bird crappies. Great report, I enjoyed reading it and the picture and smile says it all. I hope to be out there next week a couple of days if the weather cooperates. Monday and Tuesday vacation time and Wednesday thru Tuesday next week are my 6 day break. I hope you left some to bite the hook for me.
