I need some help, some friends and I are coming down on Thursday. I was wondering if the crappies are bitting, and how is the lake .

The main lake high and muddy, near full pool. Flood gates have been opened. A couple of main creeks, Jacks, Wyboo, Taw Caw will remain fishable as these are all black water. I found the bite this past weekend very tough. I was able to catch a few, but the bites were few and far between while long lining. A friend tight lining didn’t fair much better.

When the man says it's tough I'm staying home.
The spots he mentioned will offer you the best opportunity, but bring your "A" game .They could turn on at any moment though.
Actually fishing is better than not fishing.

There were some studs caught in the FTC tourney that they had down there a couple weeks ago. A lot of water has fallen b/w then and now though.

There are biting fish to be caught, the water conditions state that many areas will provide minimal action. But the Santee lakes are huge and I’m only one person fishing one area. The week of the FTC tourney was an excellent big fish bite. Things have changed, but like stated, they could change for the better at any time
