Can't speak on Russell, but the upper end of Clark Hill was relatively dingy last week. Sure the rain won't help matters but I hope it's still fishable

I'm thinking about heading south this weekend. I've not fished Clark Hill in several years and even longer since Russel. Found out I've got a place to stay in Elberton so gonna try it. Anyway what's the water looking like and what should I expect after these several days of rain? Any info I'd appreciate it.

Hooking up every chance I get!
High winds on sunday, but the sun will be out.
Good luck!
I’ve been having my best luck in the backs of creeks on Clark’s Hill. If you can find relative clear water I would go there. Been on russell a few times recently and it’s tough right now. Clark’s hill IMO would be your best bet.
I agree with the above posts. Made both good trips and not so good trips to both recently, and the day's results were mostly related to water clarity. I believe the best trolling occurs in semi-stained water, not too clear or too muddy. If you're willing to ride around on either lake, watch for the combination of greenish brown water and the presence of shad/fish on your electronics. Good luck!

Since I didn't know what either lakes looked like I took a ride today. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Beaverdam Cr (Russell) AND Pistol Cr (Clark Hill) were both fairly clear. Looks like a foot of visibility or so at both places looking from the boat ramp. If you make it to either lake be sure to post your results. Good luck!

We were determined to pull some lines and enjoy the sunshine no matter how much the wind blew today.
Started in Russell creek about 1:00 with not one bite. Water was clear and 52 degrees. We loaded up and took a quick run over to Patterson Creek (Hesters Bottom). Water had a much better color for my liking and about 2 degrees warmer. We ended the day with 13 very nice fish at about 5:30. It was a hard fought day for the trolling man though.

First trip of the year for me and the first time my boat has been in the water since last April. Really just wanted to try everything out to make sure its ready for the season. Fished for 3 hours this morning and caught 15 crappie....biggest being 1.75# and a couple at 1.5# with the rest good eating sized. Brought home 10 for a fish fry. Stayed in one creek and woulda moved if I had more time to fish but I elected to tough it out for a good mess instead of spending valuable time riding. I had sorta promised Dad and his wife a fish fry so I was fortunate to catch enough for us to eat. Sorry, didnt take the camera along this time but will have it along in the future..
