Default muddy water and night fishing

I'm just looking for input about this. When it is very muddy, like it is now, do you still go on night trips? I usually wait till it clears up a it. But I haven't done enough really muddy night trips to form an opinion for myself. And I'm thinking about going tonight.

I went one night and when I arrived to the lake, it was already dark. I already knew where I was going to set up. I used the gps to go to my spot. When I arrived, I anchored up with hopes of having a good night. When I turned the lights on.......a bright muddy mess! I caught one white perch that night. Personally, I’d wait.

I haven't had much luck in muddy water day or night. I'd wait too.

You going catfishing or crappie fishing? I don't go when it's muddy because light will not penetrate in muddy water and it would be hard to draw bait in. Crappies will bite in muddy water but you'd have to place your hook in front of their nose! Catfishing you might do good if your bait stinks good enough Go and let us know how you do. I certainly would like to know

We were camping at Bobby Brown campground years ago and the rains came hard and heavy. The Broad River tuned red, fast and a lot of debris in the mix. I decided to ease the boat tight to a point near where we was camping. Already had minnows so why not try it We put the lights out and it took about 1 1/2 hours before we had the first fish in the boat. After the first one we would pick up one about every 1/2 hour. So yes they will bite but the bite may be slow but then again I have fished Russell in muddy waters and caught good numbers in Pickens Creek away from the fast running main lake water.

Good luck if you decide to go.

I always had better luck in clear water when night fishing. And I always have better luck in stained (lightly muddy) water during the daytime. Go figure...
