Sorry the fish were not cooperating hope you do better next time
Went to Bowen yesterday evening for a few hours. Got there and they happen to have a bass tournament going on (darn strike #1).
Well we headed to a location out of traffic off the main lake to see what we could do early. Caught one nice keeper 11-12" range. About 7pm decided to move to the bridge and get ready to tightline some minnows. Well took 5 dozen and 4.5 dozen of them were dead. (Ugh!! Strike #2)
We sat there till 10:30 toughing out the nonexistent bite (strike #3) , and decided to load up and leave before all the tournament boats hit the landing.
Finished with 3 fish, all were 11"+ but was a disappointing for all that effort. Nobody else was catching anything either. Plenty of bait under the lights but the fish were tight lipped. Maybe the weather has something to do with it.
I'll give them a couple days and go do it again I guess.
Fished multiple tightline minnow rigs, and single poles jigs. Nothing really worked.
Not much of a report to give over this way guys, sorry.??

Those tough summer nights that make for some long hours of no bites.

This time of year minnows need a ton of oxygen and cool water to survive. I stole a trick from Butch and freeze some plastic 18 oz pop bottles to add to water. My house water has chlorine added so I can't use just ice.
Mark 1:17 ...I will make you fishers of men
That's what we do, use the 20oz coke bottles. Just drop one in as needed to keep the water cool, and run an aerator. Use them for our coolers too. The bigger pieces of ice last a long time.
I've had problems from time to time with them when it was really hot, but it was cool that evening (Low 80's). So I dunno, they could have been poor when we got them. I don't think it would have made much difference. Fish didn't want a meal anyway

Just bought a house on lake bowen roddogg. How is the fishing there and what colors are good to use?
