    Default Santee Quickie

After spending Friday and Saturday in Florida hanging out with the golf pros at TPC Sawgrass during the Players Championship we arrived back home around 11:00 on Sunday morning. After unpacking, my wife wanted to just relax and take it easy on Mother’s Day. She gave me the green light to go fish if I desired to do so. Not wanting to waste a vacation day, off I went. Pleasure boat traffic was horrendous, but I fought though the never ending boat wakes to fish brush and logs to net a nice limit of crappie. Both black and whites were in the mix. Fish were scattered in area, and in the water column. All fish were caught on jigs in a vertical presentation. Orange/Chartreuse was best color.

I can tell that your Rapala filet knife has cleaned a lot of fish and been sharpened a bunch.

I actually have 3 other Rapala, a Buck, and a Shrade filet knives. I like the Rapala best. That one is in the best shape. I prefer the blade to be narrow. You can't find'em new like that, so when they get about half worn is when I like them best. I've been in a couple of fish cleaning contest before. Those electric knife fellows can't compete with a sharp Rapala, and a man that knows how to use it. I average one minute per fish. That's filleted and skinned.

I'm with you on the Rapala knives, I can clean them quick, fast and in a hurry with them. BTW I now have two of the ACC Crappie Stix and I really like them, I know that they will pick apart some lay downs and brush for fish that I have been missing while casting.

Very nice, casting works well in clear water, but I have found a vertical presentation is hard to beat for being in touch with the bait and picking the structure apart.
